La Provincia di Noto was an administrative unit of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.
Establishment of the province It was established by Ferdinand I of the Two Sicilies with a law passed on 11 October 1817 that reformed the territorial division of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, following the merger of the Sicilian Neapolitan crown. At the time of constitution of the province, the capital was established at Syracuse with the Royal Decree of 23 August 1837, however, became the capital Noto.
Like all administrative units of the Bourbon kingdom, the province was abolished with the occupation and annexation of Garibaldi to the Kingdom of Sardinia 1860.
Administrative division The province was divided into the following hierarchical levels of government employees from the previous year. At the level immediately after the province identify districts which, in turn, were divided into districts. The districts were formed by the municipalities, the basic unit of political and administrative structure of the modern state, which could be from the villages, towns in predominantly rural.
The province comprises the following districts established in 1812 with the Constitution of the Kingdom of Sicily:
* District of Noto * District of Syracuse * District of Modica
The districts were divided into a total 21 districts and 32 municipalities.
